Singing Saints Concert

The Singing Saints of Saint Paul Lutheran High School, of Concordia, Missouri, will be

performing a concert on Saturday, March 1 st , 2025 at 7:00pm at Good Shepherd Lutheran

Church, at 2702 MN-29, Alexandria, Minnesota. The choir is on its annual domestic tour, singing

this year on a seven-day tour through Missouri, Iowa and Minnesota. The touring choir is made up of 46 students

from the 60+ voice concert choir and they will be performing a varied program that includes

classic German choral works by J.S. Bach and Hans Leo Hassler, as well as some hymns, anthems

and spirituals. The concert is framed as a palindrome, with settings of the Lutheran chorale

tune HERZLICH LIEB opening and closing the concert, and two settings of “Ave verum corpus,”

one from the Renaissance, by William Byrd, and the other by the living English composer Phillip

Stopford, following and preceding each of the chorale settings. The concert also includes a

piece by the women’s and the men’s choruses. The award-winning choir is under the direction

of Dr. Jerrode Marsh. The concert is free, but donations are kindly requested to help cover

expenses for their tour.
